Springtime is finally here in Tulsa, Oklahoma! Between celebrating Cinco de Mayo, Mother’s Day, and Memorial Day, there are plenty of fun concerts, plays, comedy shows, and more to enjoy this month. The amount of big events happening in May made it tough to pick. After some tough choices, here are ten of our favorite things to do this May in Tulsa.

U2
Kick off the month with one of the biggest musical events of the year. The 22-time Grammy-winning rock group U2 will be performing this May 2nd. They are bringing their eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE Tour to Tulsa as part of the BOK Center’s “10 for 10” series to celebrate the venues ten year anniversary. The tour announcement followed the release of their newest album Songs of Experience, which debuted at number one in the United States.

Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
For a night of theater like no other, you won’t want to miss Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? Written by Edward Albee in 1962, this play has long been hailed as one of the most important plays in modern history; this show is unlike any other. The three-act play focuses on the difficulties of marriage. George and Martha, a middle-aged couple, host a younger couple, Nick and Honey, and pull them into their frustrated and bitter relationship, all while destroying every illusion that kept them together over the years. You can see this marvelous production at the Williams Theatre on May 4-6 and May 10-12.

Justin Timberlake
Justin Timberlake has come a long way since his days in the Mickey Mouse Club. Following the release of his fifth studio album, Man of the Woods, and his performance at the Super Bowl halftime show, Timberlake headed out on a tour of North America and Europe. His latest album debuted at the top of the US Billboard 200 chart. He will be performing songs from his new album and a few old hits at the BOK Center on May 5th.
Five Finger Death Punch and Shinedown
Two of the country’s most loved heavy metal rock bands will be coming to the BOK Center early this month. Five Finger Death Punch will release their seventh studio album, And Justice for None, shortly after this concert on May 18th. You can listen to two singles off their new album, “Sham Pain,” and “Fake” now. Shinedown will also be releasing a new album this May 4th entitled Attention Attention. The group boasts 11 number one singles on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart, the third most of all time. The show will also feature performances from special guests Bad Wolves and Starset.

I Love the 90’s
Who doesn’t love the 90’s? It was the decade of Beanie Babies, classic sitcoms, and, of course, great music. Relive the 90’s this May 11th by heading to The Joint for the I Love the 90’s musical event. See quintessential 90’s acts Vanilla Ice, Salt-N-Pepa, Rob Base, and Young MC as they perform all of their hits. Call up your friends and buy your tickets for this one-of-a-kind event today.

Fleet Foxes
If you’re into American Indie Folk, you’ll love Fleet Foxes! Their upcoming concert at Cains Ballroom is an event you cannot miss on May 14. Founded in Seattle, Washington, they’ll be playing some of their newly released music just of last year from their album Crack-Up. Get ready to be mesmerized by Robin Pecknold, Casey Wescott, Morgan Henderson, and the rest of the band.

Willie Nelson and Alison Krauss
Do you love Willie Nelson? This American musician, songwriter, singer, actor, and activist is coming to the BOK Center on May 16. Nelson will be touring with 27-time Grammy award winner and bluegrass singer and songwriter, Alison Krauss. This night of American music will be one to remember for you, your significant other, or for the whole family!

ZZ Top
Famed American rock group, ZZ Top, will be performing at Paradise Cove this May 17th. ZZ Top rose to fame in the 70’s with hits like “La Grange,” “Tush,” and more. Since then, they have sold millions of albums and have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They will be performing the “Blues and Bayous” tour with John Fogerty.

Monster Jam
If you are looking for an evening of excitement, you won’t want to miss out on Monster Jam. This May 19 and 20, you can see all the adrenaline-pumping fun in person at the BOK Center. The show will feature drivers Devin Jones, Tyler Groth, Krysten Anderson, and more. As one of the country’s most popular touring monster truck rallies, you know you’ll be in for a good time.

Ken Jeong
Comedian Ken Jeong will be performing at the Paradise Cove in the River Spirit Casino Resort. Jeong is best known for his roles in Community, The Hangover, and Dr. Ken. He has risen to acclaim for his scene-stealing performances and unique comedic perspective. His newest film, Crazy Rich Asians, will be released on August 17th.
