Tulsa is located in northeastern Oklahoma, at the junction of the Ozark Plateau and the Great Plains. The city receives about 40" of precipitation every year. Tulsa’s location and the amount of precipitation it receives are both responsible for its lush terrain. POSTOAK Wine and Jazz Festival

This is an arts event that supports student and professional musicians. It promotes wine, food and the cultural landscape of Tulsa. POSTOAK Wine and Jazz Festival is held at POSTOAK Lodge and Retreat.

Tulsa International Mayfest

Tulsa International Mayfest has been a downtown tradition for over 40 years. It’s a 4-day event where arts and crafts vendors showcase their greatest works.

Scotfest

Oklahoma Chautauqua is held every June on the campus of OSU-Tulsa. It’s open to the public. Oklahoma Chautauqua allows you to get a first-hand experience of the city’s historical tourism. The historical programs presented during the event have a rich history. Every year, the Tulsa Humanities Council picks a theme and finds nationally-known scholars and actors to represent significant historical figures. Every Chautauqua includes five characters who present five days of evening performances and afternoon workshops. Past themes have included America in the 1960s as well as those who represented that era in American history. Other previous themes have included Lincoln’s legacy of equality.

Festival Americas

Festival Americas celebrates the National Hispanic Heritage Month. The multicultural festival includes food, live music, vendors, art and recreational activities that are family-friendly. Festival Americas is held at Guthrie Green.

Black Buggy Day

Black Buggy Day is all about celebrating the area’s Amish culture. The event is held yearly and honors Amish heritage with arts and crafts, food, children’s games and bluegrass music. The Amish were popular for their cooking skills, so expect to find authentic Amish food as well as homemade goodies like freshly baked bread, hot chicken, cinnamon rolls, kettle corn, smoked ribs, noodles, and pies. You can also find standard fair food like corn dogs, hamburgers, barbecue sandwiches, ice cream, lemonade, ice-cold watermelon, funnel cakes and turkey legs from various food vendors.

The Hop Jam

The Hop Jam is held in Tulsa Arts District. The event celebrates the junction of music and craft beer. There’s a free concert that is open to all ages. BareBones International Independent Film and Music Festival

BareBones International Independent Film and Music Festival was made to help small budget filmmakers bring their works to completion. The event is perfect for screenwriters who can write scripts that can be shot on a small budget and for independent filmmakers who want to produce small budget films. BareBones International is run by professors of film, filmmakers and film fans. It is targeted to filmmakers, film fans and film students at all levels of expertise. During the festival, everyone is treated like a star. A red carpet is rolled out for the participants. There is also a Q & A portion after the screening. BareBones International holds live readings of the participants’ screenplay together with professional actors. No matter how many roles you played or what roles you played before, you can join the event. You may even be invited and get lucky to participate as a panelist or to moderate a panel of you have the skills for the job. Festival alumni serve as awards presenters during the Bonehead Awards Gala. Tulsa also has a lot of seasonal and cultural events that feature various specialty foods like Scottish and German foods. One of these events is the Art of BBQ, which is held in downtown Tulsa in September. The Food Truck Festival is held Tulsa’s Air and Space Museum in September. The Rock n' Rib Festival, which is hosted by the BOK Center, is held in September. The Harvest Beer Festival is held in downtown Tulsa.
