At first glance, you would say there’s nothing to the so-called Center of the Universe. It is simply a small concrete circle found in the center of a larger circle made of bricks. What most people don’t know is that it is a mysterious acoustic phenomenon wherein when you make a sound in the middle of the circle the sounds echoes multiple times louder than your original sound. It serves as a private amplified echo chamber for everyone. It has an incredible effect which lets you hear your voice in its distorted state.
For the person who stands outside the circle, nothing is heard. Only the person who stands in the middle of the circle will be able to hear the echo. The effects in the sound are not only within the circle but even outside of it. It’s also strange that the sound made by the person outside the circle becomes distorted when it is heard from across the said circle.
This circle was made in the 1980’s when the bridge’s span had to be rebuilt after a fire took place. There are some who believe the circle as a vortex where you can find all the energies meeting together, rendering the effects it gives off.
The Center of the Universe is likened to the famous Lake George Mystery Spot. It’s another acoustic phenomenon that appear to be inexplicable by physics. The cause of this acoustic wonder is now yet determined and that’s what makes it truly amazing.
